"You may know of the Massachusetts Avenue bridge connecting Boston and Cambridge across the Charles River, a major thoroughfare for motor and foot traffic between the two cities.
Astute viewers may know that MIT students measure off this bridge in "Smoots," a metric of their own devising, each year in the fall.
This song is about a specific location, on the west side of the bridge, approximately 115 "Smoots" from the Boston side, where one can take in the sunset across the water with cars whizzing behind and the wind coming in strong from the front.
West 115 Smoot! A nice place to visit."
